Our Story

Born from a passion
for music

In 2015, two Mumbai musicians — Ravi Jain, a celebrated singer and composer, and Santosh Sinha, a well-known multi-instrumentalist — opened a small shop in Bandra. They named it Dhwani Junction: dhwani meaning "sound" in Sanskrit, and junction because it was meant to be a meeting point for musicians of every genre.

What started as a single room with a few guitars and a dusty keyboard has grown into one of India's largest musical instrument retailers. We now stock over 5,000 products from more than 120 global brands and ship to every pin code in the country.

But our mission hasn't changed: make world-class instruments accessible, affordable, and fun to buy — whether you're a beginner picking up your first ukulele or a touring professional hunting for a vintage amp.

A well-known singer and music composer with over two decades of stage and studio experience, Ravi has lent his voice to countless Bollywood playback tracks, independent albums, and live concerts across India and abroad.

His obsession with tone, texture, and the right gear for every performance is what inspired Dhwani Junction's relentless focus on curation — every instrument on our shelves has been personally vetted by him.

Santosh Sinha

Founder & Head of Product

A well-known musician from Mumbai, Santosh is a multi-instrumentalist whose mastery spans guitars, keyboards, and studio production. He has performed with some of the biggest names in the Indian music scene and mentored hundreds of young musicians over the years.

At Dhwani Junction, Santosh leads product curation and quality testing. His philosophy — that a great instrument can change a musician's life — is baked into every recommendation our team makes.

Ravi and Santosh met at a Mumbai studio session in the early 2010s. What began as a late-night conversation about overpriced gear and dishonest dealers turned into a shared conviction — that Indian musicians deserved better. In 2015, they pooled their savings, their contacts, and their credibility to open the first Dhwani Junction store in Bandra. The rest, as they say, is music history.

The first store

Ravi and Santosh open Dhwani Junction in Bandra, Mumbai with 40 instruments and a lot of hope.

2017

Going online

We launch dhwanijunction.com and ship our first online order to Bengaluru.

2019

New warehouse

A 20,000 sq ft fulfillment center opens in Bhiwandi to handle growing demand.

2021

Studio division

We expand into studio gear — interfaces, mics, mixers, and monitors.

2023
